Matthew Granite

In Memoriam Managing Partner

Matthew John Granite was born in Oswego, New York and spent many years in Elkton, Maryland before moving to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where he attended Cumberland Valley High School. He went on to graduate from Dickinson College in Carlisle, where he focused on economics and finance.

Matt spent 25+ years dedicated to a successful career in Financial Services and eventually became the Managing Partner of GL Capital. He partnered with Wayne Logue in 1998 when the firm was a part of American Express financial advisors, which eventually merged into Ameriprise Financial. In February of 2021, he went independent founding GL Capital with Charles Schwab as custodian and Triad-Hybrid Solutions as Broker Dealer.

As Managing Partner, Matt was deeply committed to his clients and highly valued the relationships he built with them. He had a caring and personal leadership and management style that inspired and motivated his colleagues to achieve success. He truly cared about the personal lives of his team and encouraged a work-life balance by allowing flexibility.

In addition to his career, Matt was passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. In 2017, he co-founded the Sherman Foundation in memory of his beloved brother and best friend, Shane Granite, to help those struggling with addiction and PTSD. Through the Sherman Foundation, Matt was able to support others by running bi-weekly support groups and providing financial wellness education to those in need.

Outside of work, Matt enjoyed playing golf and attending Penn State and Flyers games with his friends. He loved snowboarding, practicing yoga, hiking and camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway, spending time in Ocean City and Assateague in Maryland, listening to music, attending concerts, playing singing bowls, and spending time in nature, especially in the mountains. He adored sunrises and sunsets.

Matt's kind and humble spirit, along with his passion for life and the love he put out into the world, will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on through the impact he had on his clients, colleagues, and community.
